Spa Treatments you can do at Home

Having been the Spa Operations Manager at Titanic Spa in Huddersfield for years, I am a keen advocate for the benefits of spa experiences. As well as providing a whole host of health benefits, visiting a spa gives you the opportunity to take time out of your daily life, focus on your own wellbeing and truly unwind. If the chance to book in for a spa day doesn’t arise, there are several simple ways in which you can re-create the wellness benefits at home. Start by creating a spa-like space in your home with plenty of privacy, peace and quiet and a candle or two, and make sure your phone is nowhere to be seen!

Here are a few of my favourite Titanic Spa treatments and how to re-create them at home…

1. Decleor Aroma Cocoon Body Wrap: Relax

This warming, soothing body wrap deeply nourishes skin and leaves you feeling like you’re floating on air. By adding a few drops of lavender essential oil to your favourite body cream, you’ll create a gorgeously relaxing aroma to give you that spa feeling. Having applied your aromatic cream, simply wrap areas of your body that need an extra hit of hydration in cling film to intensify the effect. This is particularly effective for the legs and arms. As well as welcoming super-soft skin, you’ll get the comforting sensation that comes from being cocooned in a body wrap.

2. Mud Chamber

Inspired by Egyptian bathing, the Titanic Spa Mud Chamber coats you in warm, organic mud to exfoliate and nourish the skin, and after herbal steam fills the room, a tropical rain shower will leave you cleansed and polished. At home, try warming up some Dead Sea mud in the microwave and applying to the skin. Once the mud has dried, wash it off under a warm shower. Dead Sea mud is intensely mineral rich so it will soften skin and stop any irritation.

3. Elemis Sole Delight for Feet

For an indulgent way to care for your feet, try applying some warmed coconut oil and massaging into the skin. Focus on gently massaging sore muscles, arches and dry heels and let the natural oil work its magic. With your thumb, massage the heel and ball of the foot using circular motions before spending time on each individual toe to relieve pressure in the muscles.

4. Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow

This exfoliating treatment not only renews your skin but also has a fantastically revitalising effect on the mind. Begin your at-home treatment by gently brushing the body in circular motions towards the heart. This will boost circulation and begin the exfoliation. Next, you’ll want to apply an aromatic body scrub. Re-create the energising scent by mixing Epsom Salt with a generous amount of both ginger and lime essential oils to create your own bespoke scrub.

5. Decleor Illuminating Facial

This glow-giving facial uses a unique wheat germ and linseed mask to give tired, dull skin some well-deserved nourishment. Linseed can have amazing effects on the skin – as well as thoroughly cleansing and removing impurities, it can tighten skin and reduce the appearance of large pores. You can harness the hydrating benefits of linseed at home by creating your own linseed face mask. Cover two teaspoons of linseed with boiling water and wait for the water to bond the seeds together. Then, add a few teaspoons of Greek yoghurt. Apply to skin and let the mixture work its magic for around 10 minutes. The result will be glowing, moisturised skin!
